What if I am disabled and need someone to help me get around the festival ?

Folkstock Festival welcomes Deaf and disabled customers and will do all that we can to ensure that access requirements are met

(This information below is also available in large print, and can be posted or emailed. Please email for information on )

We ask that anyone with accessibility requirements  emails us at

Saturday 1st September 2013

If you have access requirements at the 2013 Festival, please read through the following information:

In our commitment to make the festival accessible to everyone, we will provide those disabled ticket holders that require full time assistance with a free ticket for a personal assistant. To take advantage of this scheme, please specify when you email

You will be required to provide copies of recent (2013) DLA letters that show what your current level of care or mobility allowance is. We appreciate that some people may require assistance but not receive DLA, please contact us to discuss your access requirements.

When you buy a Folkstock Festival ticket through any outlet you automatically qualify for this scheme, once you have contacted us and given us the relevant proof and car registration, you will receive a confirmation email which you must present on arrival at the event. It’s that simple!

We do ask that only those people that would be unable to attend the festival without the full time assistance of someone query through this scheme.
Each request will be looked at individually. The scheme is not run on a first come first served basis.

We don’t send out free tickets in advance: access will be granted on site at the event.

Can I bring my dog?

I’m afraid not, unless it is a registered guide dog.

Can children come?

Yes children are extremely welcome and there will be activities for them to watch and take part in on the day. Under 5’s are free with the early bird tickets ( but need to register for a ticket for site licensing purposes ) and children from 5 – 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over 18. Student tickets apply for people in full time education aged 16+

What time can I get there ?

The gates will be open from 10.30am with music and entertainment starting from 11.00am onwards running through until 11. The car park will open at 10am and close at 11.30pm. There will be no option of leaving any cars overnight.

How far is the car park from the festival ?

Parking is going to be either side of the main drive to the Aldenham Country Park. It is about a ten minute meander to the site, along a pretty track and passing through Winnie The Poohs famous 100 Aker wood.

There is a charge for parking which must be added to your ticket order when purchasing.

Cost is only £2.

Disabled cars will be allowed to park on the festival site for free, using the Production car park off Dagger Lane before you get to the main entrance to the park.

It will be clearly signposted.

All access to the Festival Event Field car park will be managed by the stewards. You will be given a pass once your registration plate is matched with the booking.

Parking is free for disabled festival goers.

What should I bring ?

The answer is hopefully not much. We have a great selection of food and drink and a variety of  local artisans and the more traditional fast food to choose from. Something for everyone we hope. Please do not bring anything you would be upset to lose. The Police have asked us to make you aware that sometimes events like this can attract a criminal element who’s sole reason is to line their pockets at your expense. Which is such a shame, and we will have properly registered security in place but please bear it in mind and have some secure method of carrying your phone/money/offspring.. we do have a Child Safety Plan however for the latter.

If you would like to bring something to sit on, like a rug or small foldable chairs then please feel free. Some of the festival is under cover so hopefully the weather won’t affect your enjoyment, but if it rains, the first 1000 people through the gates will get given a free rain poncho ! If you are not coming early, perhaps bring your waterproofs and wellies, as we are on grass !

Can I get my money back ?

Tickets are non-refundable except in the event that the festival is cancelled

Conditions of entry :

If you are under 16 you will only be granted admission to the event if accompanied by a guardian who is over 18.

Photo ID may be requested at the ticket gate from anyone who appears to be under 21 years of age.

Early bird under 5s go free based on their age on September 20th 2012 and must be accompanied by a ticketed parent or guardian over 18.

Can I bring my own alcohol in ?

We’re hoping to have a great party feel, and we have kept the ticket prices as low as we dare to enable you to come and spend some money with our super range of on site vendors.

So we hate having to search people on their way in. But as an independent ‘ not-for-profit’ community festival focused on putting on the best possible line-up we rely on the bar to help us fund the bands we book. That’s why we ask people not to bring excessive amounts of alcohol. A four pack of tinnies is fine, but no glass or spirits on site please ( we will take it off you I am afraid). The bar is fairly priced and we are keeping the selection simple to keep the queuing times down.

Does the festival have disabled access?
We endeavour to make the event as accessible as possible for disabled ticket holders and their carers. There will be disabled spaces on the event field, just off Dagger Lane. This will be the Production entrance. You will need to register your name and car registration before the event when you book your ticket. Parking is free for disabled people. We would like to stress that the Festival takes place outdoors on a grassed field. Weather conditions will affect the overall state of the ground. This is particularly important for wheelchair users and those with mobility problems to be aware of as paths are very limited. There are wheelchair accessible toilets.  Carers will be admitted free but need to register using to qualify for a pass.

Accessible toilets will be available on site, these are ‘festival style’ portable toilets, all of which will be signposted, and marked on the map in the festival programme.

If you have any other questions please see the FAQ tab on the home page or message us below.
